Fun Day For Alison

On Wednesday, October 16th, (the last day of school before fall break) Alison's class had a special event.  We had a "book n' bag-it" lunch.  All the families of the students were invited to come for lunch in her classroom, followed by reading time.  Each person brings their own food and their own book to read.  Younger siblings, grandparents, and other family members are invited to come.

The teacher told us to bring food if we liked.  She mentioned that the kids thought it was pretty awesome if their parents brought them a kids meal from McDonald's or some place like that.  You should have smelled that room - it was like a fast food restaurant in there!

I brought Ali a kid meal, but she had already got herself a school lunch.  Don't worry - Josh helped her eat it all!

Grandma Smith surprised Alison by showing up.  The lady on the left is Ali's teacher, Ms. Lacy.  Bronson is showing Grandma the food in his mouth.  Luckily, she's not looking.

After lunch, her class put on short tall-tale plays for us.  They did all the costumes, props, and scenery, as well as learning their parts.

Alison stepped in at the last second as a coyote in "Pecos Bill" when one of her classmates didn't come to school. Bronson's toy rocking horse starred as "Widow Maker," but he's not in this picture.  

Alison was the narrator for "Paul Bunyan."  She was very expressive.  What a fun afternoon!
