Every two years, David's huge exended family gets together for a Clendon and Erma Gee family reunion. They've been doing so since David was little. It's a pretty cool thing!
These reunions take a lot of planning and work. That's why at the end of each one, another family is chosen to plan the one two years hence. The 2019 Gee Family reunion was planned and executed by David's cousins on the Beverly and Kendall Hyde side of the family. The Hyde's happen to live in .... OGDEN!!! So we didn't have to travel anywhere for the reunion this year. In fact, Jodi's family stayed with us!
The first activity of the reunion was a hike up Waterfall Canyon in Ogden. That's Alison and Quinton hiking ahead of us.
That's the beautiful city I was raised in! Waterfall Canyon is a hike I've done many times.
The hike was a little bit strenuous for some of us. For instance, David's parents didn't go all the way up. And Bronson wasn't sure if he wanted to or not.
But all seven of us made it to the falls. Even 5 year old Quinton!
The older kids took photo shoots with their phones. Who could blame them? It was gorgeous!
The little ones explored and got wet!
In the afternoon, we met at a church in Ogden. First, we tried to get ALL of the attending cousins in a line from youngest to oldest.
Success! L-R: Jared, Elisa, Lynette, Elise, Todd, Melinda, Suzette, Becky, David, Michael, Michelle, Steven, Janice, Greg, Maralee, and Heather.
Then we sang a couple of songs together. Gee's are amazing singers! It's fun to sing together (as you can tell from Nicole's expression).
We also had a talent show. The Jim Gee family had two numbers: First was Kory Kunz. It sure is nice to have a SERIOUSLY talented person in our family!
And the second number was our family. I sang "Big Iron On His Hip" while the girls acted it out. I would NOT have done it if my favorite father-in-law hadn't specifically requested it. And it was cute, so I'm glad he did.
That evening, we all went to the North Shore Aquatic Center in North Ogden. The place was packed with Gee's! It was perfect because the kids were in heaven in the water and the adults were in heaven visiting!
They have a fun water slide. (That's Josh and Bron by the way.)
And they have a really fun kid land, floating river, high dive, etc. It's great!
As if things couldn't get any better, the Hyde's arranged to have the Worlds' Best Corndogs truck meet us at the pool! Now here's the deal. I hate corndogs, but even I LOVE the Worlds' Best Corndogs! They are incredible!
That was a fun night because we had cousins sleeping over!
In the morning, we all went Mt. Ogden park for breakfast.
It was so nice to visit with people that we hadn't seen for two years!
In the end, David's cousins on the Kerry Gee side were assigned to plan 2021's reunion. They live in Colorado, so the plan is to go to Estes Park! That sounds amazing! I love Gee family reunions and hope that they continue to have them for years to come.
