We all knew it was coming, but in the last few days of 2019 it became apparent that Grandma Church wouldn't be alive for more than a day or two. On December 30th, I took Alison and Nicole with me and we went to Grandma's room in the nursing facility one last time. It was in the evening. I think David stayed home and put the boys to bed.
When we got to Grandma's place, Katie and Megan were there. It was actually very nice to have them there with us. Grandma wasn't awake and her breathing was getting sporradic, but we all sat around on the floor near her bed and had a lovely visit. We shared a lot of memories of Grandma and such. And we said our goodbyes to her.
As we were leaving, my cousin's wife, Amy arrived. Shortly after that, Kristin and McKenna came. Not much later, Grandma passed away with Amy, Kristin, and McKenna in the room. It was a peaceful passing and I'm sure it was anything BUT peaceful on the other side of the veil when she was greeted by Grandpa, Uncle Mike, and all of her family.
