Vacation 2017: Day Three

On Day three, we woke up and ate breakfast in our hotel room.  Then we got our tickets and drove to famous Cannery Row on the warf where we went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.  It was pretty amazing!  And it was fun to have so many Gee's running around.

They have a program where you can camouflage your face up on a big screen so you look like some sort of fish or eel that camouflages itself.  That's Nicole on the third screen from the left. Her face is striped.

A whole Gaggle of Gee's

At lunch time, we walked down the street looking for some place fun to eat. We decided to splurge a little and branch away from McDonald's for a meal.  We ended up running into David's brother Nathan and his family doing the same thing.  We decided to go to lunch together.  The restaurant we chose was Bubba Gump Shrimp.  We ate out on the patio.  Right as we sat down, we saw Grandma and Grandpa Gee looking for a place to eat, so we flagged them down as well.  We had a delightful meal together. 

David and I sat at the kid's table.  

The big kids all sat together nearby.

And the grownups sat together.  It was so delightful!  At one point, I said to Grandma, "Can you believe we're here? Can you believe we're eating this delicious food on a patio overlooking the ocean?!?!"

In the afternoon, we had time for a quick kid swimming party while we adults (the ones who are smart enough to stay out of the water when it's only 55 degrees outside) sat by the pool and chatted.

That evening was the big family dinner and talent show.  It was held in a meeting room at our hotel. As always, it was so wonderful, uplifting, and inspiring to be in a room filled with so many great people that I love.

Here's David's cousin Heather (On the right) and her kids performing the famous "Idaho Potato" song - written and produced by her husband Guy, who is sitting at the keyboard.  Heather is the one who put this whole reunion together.  She's amazing!  Her whole family is very fun to be around. I should have taken more pictures of the other families performing their talents.  It was so fun!

The highlight of the evening was when Nicole played a song on the piano in light of our beach-going reunion.  She played the theme song to "Jaws" while Alison performed an interpretive dance to it.  It was fabulous in every way!  

"Dun-dun.......dun-dun.........dun-dun-dun-dun-dun-dun....."

After the dinner, the boys went to bed and the girls went to their cousins' hotel room and watched a movie together.  It was the perfect, family-centered day!
